Trail Description

Sand Dune Arch is aptly named for its location in a sandy slot between two fins. The area's dune-like sand is particularly fine and bears a pinkish red tone - a clear indication of its entrada sandstone origin.
The main trail (which also gives access to Broken Arch and Tapestry Arch) drops gently through sage and blackbrush for .1 miles to a spur for Sand Dune Arch. Bear right and follow the increasingly sandy path through a narrow slot that momentarily opens to a pleasantly shaded courtyard. Continue in the slot to Sand Dune Arch on the right.
The vicinity's deep, fine sand is an enjoyable plot for children and adults still young at heart. The tall fins through which you pass create shade and cooler temperatures, making this a particularly good choice for families during peak summer months. The slot continues for a short distance beyond the arch but soon becomes impassable.

Worth Noting
- Despite its apparent accessibility, climbing on top of Sand Dune Arch is dangerous. Please observe at a safe distance.
- Blackbrush, a member of the rose family, is named for its branches which turn black with age and when wet. The tips of the branches are usually spiny, and its flowers are small, yellowish and ephemeral.
