I'm one of the "Boy Scouts" who re-built this trail beginning in 1977. Others involved were Alex Hull, Mark Spangenberg, Robert and David Glick, Keith Mitchell, Gary Locatelli, Gary Hardesty, Doug Hughes, John Carrier, Tom Hughes, Gene Mitchell, Andy Pierce, Ron Carrier, and Park Ranger John Donaldson. The route was first used by local Indians traveling between the high an low deserts. The trail was improved by Bill Keys who used it as a short cut between his ranch and 29 Palms. He built the dam (now silted in) and trough in the upper wash. Sneakeye Spring (now dry) is next to the trail.
