Zone of Saturation
The water table is defined as the level beneath the Earth's surface below which all pore spaces are filled with water, and above which the pore spaces are filled with air. The zone of saturation is the area beneath the water table where all pore spaces are completely filled with water. Water that exists within this zone is known as "ground water".
